Handwriting
We have 4 Handwriting Groups: Stars, Moons, Suns and Rockets. The first 3 groups work through various activities, spending 6 minutes on each activity: playdough, eye-training + gross motor, pattern worksheet and handwriting worksheet. The worksheets are graded according to ability. The Rockets Group build vocabulary around a shared experience every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. This vocabulary is used in a sentence which the students transcribe on the Thursday. The students watch a video at the beginning of each lesson, and discuss what they see/remember.

News
We share our news once a week. Our mums and dads help us choose a photo or a remnant and paste it into our news book, or we draw a picture in our news book. We follow the recount prompts when we write up our news. We start off by signing and saying, "Good morning class." Our teachers prompt us by asking us questions. We are learning to answer the questions using full sentences. If we can't say all the words, we use Makaton signs. When we have finished sharing our news, we sign and say, "Thank you class."
Maths
We have 3 Math Groups: Circles, Triangles and Squares. We follow the Numicon Programme, which incorporates a multi-sensory approach to learning.

Craft
During the Reading Block each week, each student has a turn to work 1:1 with a teacher-aide on a craft activity. The craft that they make is used to reinforce/consolidate the letter/sound of the week. The activity involves tools and exercises that develop fine motor control eg: stapler, hole punch, cold-hot glue gun, glue stick, coloured pencils and felts, paintbrushes, scissors. The skills that are developed are: colouring, painting, cutting, glueing, hole-punching and threading, weaving, stapling etc.
